Annuals or Perennials

Annuals need to be planted each year and removed at the end of each season. Weeding, cultivating and fertilizing throughout the season add to the work. If they are planted in pots or hanging baskets they need regular watering and fertilizing but the weeding and cultivation work is minimal.

Perennials are a way to add colour and texture to a garden without adding too much to the gardenr's workload. They are planted once and usually die back in the fall only to return again each spring. If done right, little maintenance is required after the first year.
